The general aim of this staff is to turn further the study of the theory and practice of monetary accounting system and reporting introduced in NBS-2A1Y - Financial Accounting. The faculty examines a narrower locate of topics in depth which reflect authentic academic and sea captain interests.

b) Module objectives

i) subject specific skills

By the end of the module the student should have knowledge and understanding of the following:

current issues in financial reporting (including: brands, goodwill, off-balance sheet finance, capital instruments, pensions, convention accounts);
European and international perspectives on the financial reporting demonstrate;
alternative conceptions of the financial reporting process, including corporate governance;
new-fashioned regulatory developments;
desirability of a conceptual framework for financial reporting, including the doctrine of true and fair.

(ii)cognitive and key skills

By the end of the module the student should have developed the following skills:

written dialogue skills, including the ability to present quantitative and qualitative financial information together with associated analysis;
cognitive skills, including the ability to analyse critically key current debates in financial reporting;
analytic skills, including the ability to analyse and draw reasoned conclusions from case studies;
technological accounting skills;
