Introduction
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID is a system made of two devices, the set and the reader. RFID is used to tending machines uniquely identify objects, so you could say that a RFID cut across is very much like a complicated barcode. to each one tag will have an individual code stored in its memory to uniquely identify the object it is attached to.
The dissimilitude between the barcode and an RFID tag is the tag and reader can hand start information to each other using radio waves to mechanically identify an items or a group of items. There argon many advantages to RFID tags, for example, more than one tag can be read at the same time, and the tags do not lead a direct line of sight to be read, this manner they don’t need scanning like a barcode.
RFID tags can also be read through materials, for example, packaging or book covers, all because the tag can eliminate with the reader via radio waves.
The technology for RFID has been around since the 1940’s and has evolved a lot over the last 70 years. RFID technology has bend smaller, more practical to use and most importantly cheaper to become over the years. You may be surprised to find out you may have come across RFID tags in your career and never realised they where there. They have been used in supermarkets, to tag animals, Identification cards for staff in hospitals and libraries.
The following accounting covers three main topics: the history of RFID technology and its developments, the technical setting of the technology, then the current, emerging and future developments of the technology.
