A Thousand Splendid Suns- Khaled Hosseini
Since we were filming The Kite start by Khaled Hosseini, I was keen to read more of his books and unflinching to read A Thousand Splendid Suns. I asked my public address system active whether he would recommend it for me or not, and he told me about it. He really enjoyed the book; he read it everywhere Christmas break, and couldnt stop talking about it. He read most of is on the way back to Canada, and he recommended it to me then. I didnt even know it was by Khaled Hosseini, and I alone forgot about the book because I was in the middle of A Tale of Two Cities.
Once I finally got work through to reading the book, I found that it was similar to Kite Runner, and I read in a sort of similar fashion, that is to say, I read it really apace. I found myself totally concentrate in the book, reading seventy pages at a era! Although this book revolved around the lives of women in Afghan society, I still really enjoyed it.
The book starts off illustrating the life of the early protagonist, Mariam. She lives with her mother but is infatuated by her father, who lives international from his family, in a more wealthy part of the town. The book quickly moves on, showing how Mariam faces many tragedies and ends up marrying Rasheed, an older man, and then moves away from home to start her new married life.
As the theme progresses we see how Rasheeds behavior changes drastically. Soon the life Mariam was hoping to happen happiness in becomes full of misery and pain.
Khaled Hosseini then introduces a new, contrasting woman into the novel, Laila. Although she has no connection to Mariam when she is first introduced, we catch out about Lailas life and how her misfortune also makes her Rasheeds wife. The two women, who now share the husband, grow to become acceptable friends and plan many ways of escaping their miserable lives to amounther.
