The Romans won out forcing a surrender and rather than murdering the survivors, they sent them stake to their territory to act as a buffer against different possible threats.
After defeating the Veneti tribe of Armorica, modern Brittany, in 56BC, Caesers forces foraged into Britain and Germany and in the winter of 54-53BC they faced there biggest threat, when a coalition of unify Gauls, led by Vercingetorix of the Arverni, began an uprising. Knowing that Roman forces were much stronger on the battlefield, they went about a campaign of depriving them of sources and supplies. Skirmishes occurred, with victories for both sides, but the affiliate Gaulish forces were defeated when they tried to hold out at Alesia, at long last succumbing to the greater Roman force. A number of lesser Rebellions took placement after this but with Gaul under control it gave Rome the opportunity to concentrate further afield.
