The amorous Period The amatory period in English lit coincided with the French Revolution. The French Revolution had a great incline on British life, and English literary works too, even though there was never such a thing as a public revolt in England. The biggest social channelise in English history was probably between 1750 and 1850 when hulky numbers of people moved from the countryside to the towns. The movement was set score by the so-called agricultural revolution. Landowners decided it was more economic to keep sheep than to let peasants farm the land. At the same clipping there were plenty of jobs available in the cities and towns due to the approaching industrial revolution. Peasants migrated on a large scale to fashion in factories and mills operated by steam-powered machines. This migration mostly touched the north of Great-Britain and parts of the Midlands. New industrial towns were places of great affliction for workers. The poor were having the worst period of suffering since feudal quantify when they were serfs shackled to the land. By the time the nineteenth century began, the halcyon peasant farmer, the yeoman, who had won the battles for the kings of England, had all disappeared. He had either drop to the level of a labourer on the land of a bigger farmer or he had become a factory worker and little better than a slave.

The Romantic Period lasted until 1832, when the Victorian Age began, although many romantic poems and novels were written after that year.
