Maycombs values and traditions affect their prejudice against blacks because they have always thought that all blacks lie and chip in crimes and they liberty chit these beliefs down from generation to generation. This racial prejudice is presented by actions and words. One example is nose candy prejudice which is presented when Lula a muliebrity that belongs to the black community makes a scene about Jem and lookout going to their church (First Purchase). This scene shows that racism can go both ways. The Tom Robinson mental test is another example of racial prejudice. Tom isnt given a fair trial because of his skin color. Most people in the novel destine of blacks as another class. This causes the town to isolate them and treat them as immoral beings.
